Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

F-ALT

F-ALT is a fringe event organised to coincide with the annual Association for Learning Technology annual conference. This Year ALT-C will be back in sunny Manchester! Spurred on by the fantastic success of F-ALT 08, we're looking forward to an even more fabulous series of unconference events.

  • Lovely disclaimer: Although F-ALT is really lovely, we don't have any official connection to, relationship with, or endorsement of ALT or ALT-C. We don't have sponsors, budget, organisational structure, chair, committee, or mascot. This year we haven't even got a replacement logo. All we have are lots of poorly conceived suggestions for pig related logos.
Keep up! We'll be here:

more, doubtless, to come.

F-ALT 09 will consist of a variety of sessions held in public, conference and university spaces. Delegates are encouraged to experiment with format, with slots focusing discussion and allowing participants and bystanders to experiment with an alternative conference format. Participants pick the topics they are most interested in debating and negotiate session delivery. If you have session ideas - stick them here. We'll work up detail as we go along. If you are coming, don't forget to signup

Digital Rights & Net Neutrality How can we get people in education active in supporting the principles of net neutrality and internet access as fundamental right?

What's the point of research in learning technologies? We all lurvvv practice of learning technologies – in learning and teaching, we publish, we tweet, we share bookmarks, we blog, we talk …... But what place does theory and evidence have in this? And who ‘does’ theory? Who uses it? Who shapes it? And who cares whether we have it or not?

The death of Twitter... We all love Twitter. We all want to use Twitter to enhance learning. However one day Twitter is going to die. It's not a matter of if Twitter will die, but when will Twitter die...

Postdigital What does this mean? Why is it not two words? Is it just Dave making-up another term in an attempt to get keynote gigs? No, it actually has some substance to it and could be a very helpful way of framing the learning-tech discussion over the next few years. If you are sceptical about all this then you should definitely turn-up. The chances of an argument breaking out are very high.

Whinge and Support Group

Are you using technology in your teaching and finding barriers at your Uni? Is your sanity slipping? Fancy a good whinge? Let’s meet one night to compare horror stories from the trenches, encourage each other and have some laughs.
